Convector box
An open fronted (no glass) convector box is a box within another box, with a gap around the internal fire box to allow convection heat to transfer into the room from the back of the fire. This is more efficient than an open fire, due to having a restricted throat area with a damper allowing you to regulate the chimney draft. This stops some of the heat going up the chimney, but it is not as efficient as a stove. There are wood burning and gas convector boxes available.
Electric stoves and fires
·Electric stoves and fires are a modern way to have a focal point in your room. • In hot weather you can have the flame visual without heat. • They can be installed anywhere in a property without a chimney. • You don’t need to have any distances from combustible materials. • They are very safe and can give you a small amount of heat when needed. • They are clean and low maintenance

Gazco electric remote control allows you to turn the heater up, down or off. Change the visuals often including brightness, colour, flame movement and fuel bed effect. They also allow for setting a room temperature for the fire to turn on or off or programme timers for specific times of the day.
Electric stoves and fires
The cost of running your electric stove or fire will depend on the model and whether you have the flame effect running without heat, on low heat or high heat. For example, a Gazco Vogue Midi Electric uses and produces 0.75kw on low and 1.5kw on high. Therefore, it will cost you 1.5 units of electric per hour on high (1unit = 1kw, please note this doesn’t include any proportion of your daily standing charge). How much this cost depends on your specific tariff and unit charge rate. The visuals without heat (flame effect only) cost will vary between 1p-7p per hour depending on the specific model.
Electric stoves and fires

Electric fires and stoves are up to 100% efficient. All of the electricity used for heating is converted into heat within the room.

Electric stoves and fires
There are many different effects of an electric stove or fire. Some use LED screens and some have the fuel bed light up. All electric fires have a moving flame image. Fuel beds can be changed depending which fire you choose. Gazco electric fires often have a variety of fuel beds which include logs, driftwood, pebbles, stones, glass and crystals.

There are wall mounted fires, which are hung and attached to a wall. Inset fires which are built into a wall (often named media walls). Hearth mounted fires which can use an existing fireplace and freestanding electric stoves. You can get them one sided or multiple sided, depending on what look you want to achieve.

Electric stoves and fires
Electric stoves and fires give up to 2kw of heat. This will heat a room slowly, but would not be enough as the only source of heating in a room.
Electric stoves and fires
An electric stove or fire can just be plugged straight into an existing socket. You don’t need a fireplace or chimney. You can build surrounds around them if wanted to, but it is purely to enhance the visual feature.
Gas stoves and fires
• Gas fires and stoves are a very good-looking alternative to a wood stove or fire. Giving your space a beautiful focal point. • You can press a button and it will turn on, there is no need to clean it like a wood burner. • Glass fronted gas fires and stoves give high efficiency heating. They are good at heating one room or part of the house quickly without turning on the whole central heating system.
Gas stoves and fires

Gas fires and stoves should be serviced annually like your gas boiler would be. This ensures safe and efficient operation.

Gas stoves and fires

Many options of gas fires and stoves have a remote-control option. Some are included and others it can be an optional extra. Having a remote control means you can turn it on without having to even stand up. Different remotes are available. A standard remote allows you to turn the appliance on and up and down. The thermostatic remote means you can set the fire to come on automatically once the room goes below a set temperature or off once the room gets to a temperature and set time schedules.
